Naim Audio is hi-fi company with its own ideas. It’s a substantial upgrade to the CD5 XS. The original Naim DAC is still a great piece of kit preloved, and has the benefit of being able to be enhanced by the XPS and 555PS power supplies but this doesn’t have a built in headphone amp unlike the V1. I did it and it sounded very good. From what I have found, and it could be quite incorrect that the CD5 XS uses the same DAC as used in the nDAC, the BB PCM 1704K. DAC-V1’s single-ended class-A headphone amplifier affords it added versatility. If I buy and NDX2, I’ll want to change it eventually as things keep changin.
